My name is Emma Webster and I am fully qualified Birth Doula, Breastfeeding Counsellor and Hypnobirthing Instructor. I hold a degree in Birth and Beyond from the University of Worcester. I have undertaken additional training in Safer Infant Sleep, UNICEF baby friendly, Biomechanics for Birth and Aromatherapy for birth.
I live in Surrey with my husband and my two children and would be happy to support women and their families in Surrey, Sussex and South London.
I am passionate about supporting women throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond. With the help of my extensive training I am able to fully support and empower birthing women and their families to make the right decisions for them.
The voice women have about what happens to their bodies and how they birth and feed their babies is a powerful one that I believe deserves to be heard. The support a woman receives that will enable her to receive the birth and post natal experience she wants is incredibly important and even has the power to impact upon bonding and early parenting.
I will empower you and your family with fact based information and support that will enable you to make the right decisions for your pregnancy, I will support you throughout labour and birth and will support you in the post natal period with feeding and settling in with your new baby. I will be there for you, supporting you and your new family enabling you all to have the birth and post natal experience that you want and need. My training, supported by my own personal experiences enables me to offer truly comprehensive support, friendship and true continutity of care.
It would be an honour to support and walk alongside you in your journey to parenthood and beyond.
My pregnancy and birth journey completely changed the day I met Emma. This was my first baby and I was lucky enough to have a pretty smooth sailing and risk free pregnancy. The only thing I experienced as more of a negative was anxious thoughts about the birth and not knowing what to expect. I was keen to find a doula that my partner and I could learn Hypnobirthing with as we’d heard great things about the breathing techniques. When I met Emma I felt an instant connection with her and just felt really at ease and safe. She has such a calming presence. As our sessions progressed she completely changed my mindset about birth and made me feel like I was capable of anything! I learnt such a lot from Emma and outside of our sessions, she was there for me whenever I had any questions or concerns and always had the right responses to put my mind at ease. I had never considered a home birth and pretty much ruled it out entirely, although looking back I don’t know why. Emma never told me what to do or tried to direct me in a certain direction, but instead just spoke openly and honestly about all of my options, and as my confidence grew I came to the decision to have a home birth - and it was the best decision I could have come to! The more I thought about it the more I knew it was what I wanted to do. Emma also put me in contact with her good friend who had previously had home births, and speaking with her was lovely and so helpful. My home birth went just as I had hoped and planned, with no interventions and no need for additional pain relief. Being at home was amazing and I created the calming environment I had envisaged all along. I was in such a positive headspace before I went into labour because of my work with Emma, and as my labour progressed I felt ready to take it all on. Having Emma, my husband and the lovely home birth midwives by my side throughout the whole experience was magical, I felt fully supported by all of them and I felt strong. Immediately after our baby girl Lily was born, Emma was there to support us with skin to skin and the first feed, all whilst feeding me sugary tea through a straw and toast with jam! She stayed with us and helped my husband and I upstairs with Lily to help settle us all into our own bed which was beautiful. Emma was a great support to us following the birth too, especially as she noticed Lily’s tongue tie straight after birth! She advised us on who we could see privately to check the tongue tie and she was right in her diagnosis, Lily had 100% tongue tie which I’m extremely grateful was dealt with days after she was born. I can’t thank Emma enough and I’m so grateful our paths crossed, because I know my journey would have been a different story without her playing such a huge role. I truly believe that our baby girl Lily is calm and easy because of my birthing experience. Emma is such an inspiring woman with a fountain of knowledge, who has now become a wonderful new friend of ours and our baby girl.
A huge thank you for your support during pregnancy and the birth of our daughter.
Having you by our side meant we could navigate our way through to her birth with confidence.
Everyone should have a doula.
My pregnancy changed right from my very first meeting with Emma. She instantly helped reduce my anxiety regarding labour and helped my husband feel more involved by working with both of us. With Emma's extensive knowledge and resources we were guided into making informed decisions which helped me to experience the kind of birth that I wanted. Even when a few things in my late pregnancy seemed to knock things off course, Emma was there to offer support, information and continuity of care that allowed me to regain control of the pregnancy and enjoy a positive birth experience. As for the big day, I will be forever grateful to Emma for the physical and emotional support that she gave to me, my husband and our son. From my point of view, it felt like she never left my side and experienced each contraction with me. I felt fully supported and the moment my son came into the world was joyful and calm. Behind the scenes I know that she acted as a wonderful advocate for us which was especially helpful when there were changes in staff. I honestly don't know how we would have done it without Emma- highly recommend.See you for baby number two !
Emma was an amazing support to me, in my pregnancy, on “the big day”, and my early days of parenthood! She is so calm, so confident that it made me feel so prepared and ready. I was excited for my birth! Throughout labour Emma was by my side, she was there to answer for me when I was so in the zone that I wasn’t able to speak to others. She held me as I birthed my son and gave me strength. But where she became invaluable, was when things didn’t go according to my plan. As I waited to birth the placenta, complications arose and I was rushed from home to the hospital. Emma was my husband’s rock, she got him together as he stood shell shocked at what was happening, made sure he gave our boy skin to skin then got him sorted to follow the ambulance. She made sure my son got the colostrum I’d harvested and that when I was recovering, he was put on my chest supervised so he could feed and have our skin to skin. All whilst keeping us all calm and positive. She was invaluable, helped my husband be just there for me without having to think of anything else, and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.
Emma was a huge support for me during the very difficult first few weeks of breastfeeding my son. She came to see me when he was a few days old because I was struggling to feed him, and immediately diagnosed a 100% tongue tie, which had been missed by medical staff and several midwives. She arranged for his tongue tie to be treated very quickly and was incredibly supportive throughout the next few weeks as my son learnt to latch on properly, via text messages and when I visited her at a drop-in centre. I’m not sure I could have carried on breastfeeding without her support and encouragement. Three years on, I’m still breastfeeding my little boy!
During these challenging times I am pleased to be offering Infant Feeding Consultations over Zoom. These sessions will be an hour long and can be booked in advance at a time that suits your family.
